Gifts of Securities and IRA Distributions

Did you know that gifts of appreciated securities or mutual funds may allow you to augment your giving AND help you save on taxes? It’s as simple as contacting us, and then you or your broker contacting our financial advisor, who will discuss the asset and determine the best option.

Donate Stock

You can easily donate stock online through Overflow, and then let us know how you’d like your gift to be directed.

Required Minimum Distributions

How are you handling your required minimum distributions? If you are 70 ½ years old, you are subject to required minimum distribution (RMD) rules for your IRA. Gifting some or all of your RMD income using this qualified charitable distribution strategy may be a great way to both benefit the Whatcom Land Trust and reduce the taxes you pay.

Make a gift of your IRA stocks or in cash today and invest in stewarding the lands you love for future generations.

Why We give

I feel deeply connected to the land…

“I feel deeply connected to the land and am grateful to be involved with and donate to an organization that protects our special places in perpetuity. There’s no substitute for our wild and natural places – they are important for our spiritual and mental health.”

– Lynne and Keith Givler

I’m really proud to be a part of helping

“The more time I spend in Whatcom County, I realize what a wonderful place it is. The beauty, the diversity of landscapes within our County – The Whatcom Land Trust is a big part of preserving that beauty and habitat for wild species and I’m really proud to be part of helping the Land Trust keep Whatcom County wild and beautiful.”

– Vic Knox

a tangible legacy of land

“Stimpson Family Nature Reserve is where I go to be fully present in the moment, and be mindful of the small things. For me, contributing to Whatcom Land Trust is a tangible legacy of land so that future generations can experience wilderness instead of development.”
