Location: Near Everson
Size: 30 acres
Public Access: No
Easement granted: November 2005
Easement type: Conservation
Grantees:
Owners of this property have retained the right to maintain two residences there, but they have granted this conservation easement to permanently protect the natural habitat and aesthetic value of the land.
The land is mostly covered with a mix of conifer and deciduous forest, except for five acres of actively managed pastureland. There are wetlands on the property, and a seasonal stream that is part of an aquifer recharge zone.
The property was logged in the late 1800s or early 1900s, and several groves of large, second growth Douglas fir are well established now. There is also Western red cedar, Grand fir, Big-leaf maple, Red alder, Paper birch and willow. Owners of the property have planted several young conifers over the past 20 years, and the result is a multi-layered canopy of varied tree species that provides excellent habitat for wildlife.
