In 1993, David and Kay Syre donated the farm to Whatcom County Parks and Recreation for use as a public park. A conservation easement on 113 acres was deeded to Whatcom Land Trust to protect the riparian habitat, provide a wildlife migration corridor, protect water quality and buffer the South Fork Nooksack from recreation activity.

The property is a partially wooded, gently rolling upland. Hutchinson Creek flows through the southeastern corner, and is a salmon-bearing stream that joins the South Fork of the Nooksack River. Wildlife species found in the area include elk, bear, cougar, owls, hawks, migratory songbirds and amphibians. Continued restoration work is planned.
