Treasurer’s Report

Whatcom County, Washington, the U.S. and the world are going through challenging times right now. Financial priorities are being set and tough decisions being made. In time, and through collaborative efforts, these problems will be solved. The dedicated staff of Whatcom Land Trust remains focused on the mission to protect and preserve land. The Board of Directors continues to oversee all aspects of the organization. Public participation has continued to grow with the outstanding support from conservation-minded individuals, businesses, foundations and public agencies. During this fiscal year, 11 new properties with a total of 532 acres have been added to protected land status.

Thomson & Co, PLLC, an independent firm of Certified Public Accountants has reviewed our financial statements for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2008 and issued a report thereon. The report states that, based on their review, nothing came to their attention to indicate that the financial statements were not in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. A copy of these financial statements and the accountant’s review report are available at the Whatcom Land Trust office.
