Treasurer’s Report
As I look back at this challenging economic period that we are going through, perhaps the worst since the great depression, I find heart in the fact that year-over-year, the loyal supporters of Whatcom Land Trust continue to grow in number, providing the Trust with strong financial support. Over the last quarter century, the Trust has been very successful in preserving and protecting high-quality conservation properties, and the Trust recognizes responsible stewardship as part of its core mission in serving the citizens of this community. What makes this such a successful effort is having such a dedicated and highly efficient staff, coupled with the oversight from a mission driven board of directors, plus the outstanding support from conservation minded individuals, businesses, foundations, and public agencies.
Thomson & Co, PLLC, an independent firm of Certified Public Accountants has reviewed our financial statements for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2010 and issued a report thereon. The reports states that, based on their review, nothing came to their attention to indicate that the financial statements were not in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. A copy of these financial statements and the accountant’s review report are available at the Whatcom Land Trust office.
